Milwaukee Brewers Road Trip -- August 2011

- By Kavin Caruso (Georgia )

The Milwaukee Brewers finished a 6-1 home stand yesterday. They lost 5-1 to the LA Dodgers. The Milwaukee Brewers left Milwaukee with a 6.5 game lead on the Saint Louis Cardinals. The Brewers have never won the NL Central division. The last time the Milwaukee Brewers won the division was in 1982 when they were in the American League. That season they won the AL East over the Baltimore Orioles.

The Brewers took 3 out of 4 against the LA Dodgers during the week, last weekend they swept the Pittsburgh Pirates in a 3 game series. Prince Fielder has now 90 RBI's this season, with a .302 batting average, and has 27 homeruns. Right now Ryan Braun is leading the National League Batting Title. He's hitting .329 with 23 homeruns and 78 RBI's. He's leading the league over New York shortstop Jose Reyes, Jose Reyes is hitting .336, but he's on the disabled list for a hamstring injury.

After the New York Mets series, they head to Pittsburgh to face the Pirates. On Monday they will play a double header to make up a game that was postponed back in April. The Pittsburgh Pirates were at one time in 1st place in the Central division. Pittsburgh Pirates are 13.5 games behind the Brewers. Milwaukee Brewers have so much success against the Pirates for the last 4 yrs. If the Brewers continue to be dominating against the Pirates, the Brewers will be sitting pretty well in the Central Division. The Brewers need to win at least 5 games on this road trip.
